This is the Lord’s Day!

It was a cool morning when we arrived in Burlington, Iowa but very beautiful.  The Burlington Memorial Auditorium, situated on the banks of the mighty Mississippi, was built during the depression and it has been the victim of several floods.  As a matter of fact this tour date was somewhat in question last July when major flooding took place.   Part of the building had about four feet of muddy water in it.  Fortunately the main auditorium is on the second floor, thanks to good thinking on the part of architect!  Thankfully the building was repaired just in time for the tour.

Pastor Harry was standing next to a tree when he looked down an saw a 4 foot snake looking at him!  The snake was sunning himself. KJ-52 came over to video tape something for his blog but unfortunately he must not have pushed the record button.  Evidently some reptiles and animals are still trying to find their way back to the river from being washed up on higher shores during the flood.  He or she (the snake) slithered away to safety.  The promoter did a great job and even had dinner for us a the Drake restaurant – good stuff.

We had devotions together around 4pm and Bob Lenz shared on the subject of being content and the struggles we all have with real contentment.  The tour has really brought together the bands in more than one way.  Yes, we are on tour together but there has been a real family developing.  Spiritually it has been enriching to all of us and to the people attending.  We also are having a lot of fun!

This is a windy place next to the river and it was neat to see the long line all bundled up waiting to get into the auditorium  It was a happening place and those attending seemed extra friendly and saying how much they loved the Creation Festival: The Tour.  After Bob’s message during the show, at least around a 100 hands went up saying they wanted to know Christ as Lord.  Pastor Harry and the promoter, Matt Best prayed with several of the new converts and gave them a New Testament.

The next tour date is on Thursday at Grove City, Ohio.  With a couple of days off several band members are heading home to Nashville or other ports.  It was a great night!  Thanks for praying and believing for the tour, it is “A Tribute to Our Creator!”

I’ve returned to church and Christian music full-force this year after a 14-year separation. With all of the great Christian artists out there, I didn’t realize what I’ve been missing! I saw Kutless in Rock Island last month, and they were so alive. The Burlington show was my first Creation Festival that I’ve attended, and man did it “ROCK!” All of the bands were superb. From the fun hip-hop and rap of KJ-52 to the floor shaking performances of Kutless, Pillar, Thousand Foot Krutch and Fireflight..this a tour NOT to be missed! The new bands sounded really tight and had great songs. The Creation Festival puts a lot of punch in their show for a low-cost fun night of worship, and allows someone to sample a taste of many different Christian artists. I praise Harry Thomas for founding such a magnificent show and for how long it’s lasted so far. Well done! I had such a great time during my first Creation Festival that I can’t wait for another one in the area. After the show it was cool meeting the bands and having them sign my CD’s. The building sure was jamming for Jesus in Burlington, Iowa!
